Chrome, Safari, and Edge browsers enable the Hyperlink Audit feature.

Some browsers such as Google Chrome, Safari or even Microsoft Edge decide to activate the Hyperlink Audit (Pings) functionality by default.

A feature that users cannot deactivate and which requires them to install an extension to be able to block this tracking.

For Chrome you can use “Ping Blocker“. There is also a blocker for Mozilla Firefox called “Simple Ping Blocker"...

Blocking Hyperlink Auditing Tracking Pings with Extensions

With Chrome, Safari, and Edge enabling the tracking feature called Hyperlink Auditing, or Pings, by default without a way to disable them, users will need to rely on browser extensions to block them going forward. (Sources)
